Important notice: "GCG SOFTWARE SUPPORT WILL EXPIRE JUNE 2008"
On 1 July 2007, The GCG vendor, Accelrys, announced their plans to drop the GCG software package in June 2008. RCC has a perpetual license for the GCG suite of programs, so it will continue to function as is after the expiration date. There will be NO updates during the coming year. All users are encouraged to check out the EMBOSS suite of programs. These have much more functionality, and features, than the GCG programs, and the programs are compatible with GCG format files.

It is originally created at the University of Wisconsin and now developed and marketed by Genetics Computer Group(GCG) at Accelrys.

Running Program: also refer to submit jobs to queues at iob1

To run any applications, users need active the gcg environment first. System will automatically log into interactive nodes inter1. Then start the various applications by type the application name. Please also refer to running interactive jobs at rcluster, IOB

[username@rcluster ~]$ ssh inter1
[username@compute-2-12 ~]$ gcg
[username@compute-2-12 ~]$ pileup

Some applications are programmed to submit the jobs to the queue automatically. For the status, results of such jobs, please refer to submit jobs to queues at iob1

To exit interactive node

[username@compute-2-12 ~]$ exit
[username@rcluster ~]$
